Renovation, Repair and Painting Educational Refresher Presented to full house at offices of Miami Valley NARI

Published on March 27, 2015
Remodeling and Home Design

A capacity crowd attended both Miami Valley NARI hosted sessions of the EPA’s required refresher course for the Renovation, Repair and Painting program centered upon lead safety for remodelers.   EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and pre-schools built before 1978 have their firm certified by the EPA (or an EPA authorized state), use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers and follow lead-safe work practices.  Every five years, those certified must re-certify and attend a refresher course.

In Service Training from Columbus provided the materials and approved training at the Miami Valley NARI offices to help our members and their employees meet this requirement.   The session was a 4hour refresher course that featured discussion, a workbook, a short video for practical application and of course the final exam.   Companies that have completed the refresher training and received their certification from In Service can now apply to update their certification for a new five year period with the EPA.

Miami Valley NARI will be looking to provide an additional refresher class prior to the expiration date for those originally certified this July.   If your firm has interest in attending, please watch the website and your inbox for more information..
